Chase online down again – UNSCHEDULED!

Chase online appears to be experiencing some unscheduled downtime again, despite what their website says.  I just received this from a reader:

9-13-2010  9:45 p.m (central time?)

Online Banking for Chase customers has been disrupted, again, for the second time in as many weeks.

This outage has been ongoing for well over two hours thus far.

No previous mention of this outage was posted on Chase.com’s main page and no e-mail was sent to Chase Online’s customer base informing them of any “scheduled maintenance.”

Interestingly, the notification message at https://chaseonline.chase.com has changed during this outage to try and classify this OUTAGE as “scheduled maintenance.”

Funny, you can only contact Chase’s online customer service by first LOGGING INTO YOUR ACCOUNT.  This activity is instantly greeted with the same “This website is temporarily unavailable” page.

I have e-mailed the editors over at The Wall Street Journal.  We’ll see if they decide to pick-up this story and run with it or if they let Chase’s flack tell them it was a planned outage for “system maintenance.”

How long will this Outage last?  Will this continue into normal business hours tomorrow?  How long will Chase customers be inconvenienced this time?  Does Chase care?  Do Chase’s shareholders care?

Stay tuned…

According to our reader, this started around 6 pm Pacific time on a weekday, a highly unlikely time for a scheduled maintenance.  Once again Chase is not giving us the straight story.

Update 11:50 pm. According to comments we’ve received, Chase was down as early as 4 pm, making this about an 8 hour unscheduled outage so far.  The image on Chase’s website (see above) claims this is due to “scheduled maintenance” but the image itself is called “defaultHomeOutageImage.gif”.  Looks like the Chase website developers are a little more honest than they should have been.

out·age noun \ˈau-tij\

1 : a quantity or bulk of something lost in transportation or storage
2.a : a failure or interruption in use or functioning
2.b : a period of interruption especially of electric current

Update 6:00 am PST:  They have now been down for 14 hours.  At around 12:30 am PST, probably realizing that their claim that online banking was down for scheduled maintenance strained even the remotest credibility, they changed their site to admit that it was not a scheduled outage.

So far none of the mainstream news is reporting on this outage.

Update 7:00 am PST:  I’m seeing reports from Twitter (through Google updates) and Twitter that Chase’s iPhone app is not working as well and telephone banking is also down.  A recent tweet claims their online banking has been down for over 24 hours.  Also seeing reports that online payments are down, so if you had anything scheduled to be paid, it is not going out.  I would be sure and check that things scheduled for today get processed properly.

I still can’t logon. I tried at 5:00 MT, and it was down. Now its 9:35 MT, and its still down. WTF Chase? Hire a few more software testers, and role back this last release or whatever you call it to previous working site. This is way to long for banking service to be down on a weekday. I have bills to pay dammit!

  • By Jake, September 13, 2010 @ 9:28 pm

Actually I saw on the Chase website that there would be web system maintenance. I do not recall how long they said, but I do remember seeing it.

  • By Krissy, September 13, 2010 @ 9:28 pm

I am a chase customer and called around 430pm CST because I was unable to log in and was greeted with a message stating my account was inactive. I immediatly called the customer service # and they told me the website was experiencing problems and should be up and running in 30-45 min… (that was almost 7 hours ago)

  • By Chang, September 13, 2010 @ 10:17 pm

I noticed this about 6pm PST. Still ongoing at 10:15PM PST. What’s the point of online banking if you don’t have access?!!

Gotta switch to a regional bank.

  • By Kelly, September 13, 2010 @ 10:45 pm

I first tried at 4 pm PST and saw the same message. I am overdrawn on an account (by .08 cents), simple miss communication by my husband and I myself. I went to quickly fix it and now cannot.

They have 1.5 to keep me as a customer. Not that they seem to care.

  • By Brett, September 13, 2010 @ 11:04 pm

First tried accessing the site at around 6 pm PST. It is now 11 pm. This is definitely NOT “scheduled maintenance.” I am a software engineer, and I can tell you that maintenance would never be scheduled so early in the evening. This is absolutely a systems meltdown, and Chase better have a damn good reason for it when I wake up tomorrow morning. Makes me feel really secure as a customer.

  • By Tamara, September 13, 2010 @ 11:09 pm

I called them at around 5pm PST and was told they were temporarily down for about 1 hour. I asked the lady what kind of redundant system they had that would not support a faster fail-over. She indicated they were working on getting the DR system up and they were only quoting 1 hour because that would be the maximum time. They obviously have an outage or did an application rev that they didn’t vet out properly.

  • By B.S. Abounds at cHASE, September 13, 2010 @ 11:11 pm

Chase down since 6pm PST until 11pm PST…and counting! They indicate ‘scheduled maintenance’; however, as a chase customer I for one never rec’d notice of such schedule. They think I would give a damn.

I just went to the actual atm to check my balance. Just wanted to see if I got paid correctly. Jesus, chase.

So, it is now 3:20 am in Texas (Tuesday 9-14-2010) and chase.com and https://chaseonline.chase.com are STILL DOWN!

I am the reader that sent the original e-mail message (posted above) to this site’s author.

I have to correct myself in that I should have said it was the second such outage in two months, not two weeks (last one was early August 2010). Regardless, this is still completely unacceptable.

I feel Chase’s management needs to provide answers to Chase’s shareholders and more especially, Chase’s customers, as to why there a pattern of MAJOR BANKING SYSTEM OUTAGES is occurring at Chase.

Being offline in the middle of the night for scheduled maintenance (12 am – 6 am) is one thing. Being offline during normal business hours is unacceptable and Chase management should be held accountable by both its customers and shareholders.

Tick-tock Chase, the clock is ticking and your customers are growing more and more disgruntled.

Maybe if we could turn the tables and charge Chase “service fees” every time we, as customers, are inconvenienced by their system outages, we could hit them where it hurts — the pocketbook.

Chase, if you’re reading this: Fix your damn systems and in the future do a better job of notifying your online customer base of potential long-term system outages!

0145 PST Chase website is still down! It’s been almost ten hours since I’ve been trying to get on it to pay some bills. So frustrating! I hope the system is restored by tomorrow morning or I will seriously consider a new bank. This seems to happen every other week with this bank! A bank that does mostly online banking should be more reliable.

7:00 am in Texas on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 and chase.com & https://chaseonline.chase.com are still not accepting customer logins.

This has now been ongoing for in excess of 12 hours folks!

MAJOR System Issues or CRITICAL OPERATING SYSTEMS FAILURE can be the only explanations.

It’s past 8:00 am on the East Coast (Chase is HQ’d in NYC).

No doubt this issue is affecting Chase’s banking operations and disrupting service for millions of online customers.

    Ouch.

    Fix the damn problem Chase!

It’s currently 8:18 a.m. ET, and I still don’t have access to the site, so yes it has gone into regular business hours. I was also unable to get on last night at around 2:30 a.m.

I wonder if the outage has effected branch operations as well.

  • By Dave, September 14, 2010 @ 5:22 am

Still down well into business hours on Tuesday Sept. 14, 2010 at 0814 EST (1314 GMT). Makes you wonder how secure their site is if it doesn’t work for regular customers. There must be lots of holes in that site that may make your information vulnerable.

  • By Jesse, September 14, 2010 @ 5:23 am

  • By fpb, September 14, 2010 @ 6:23 am

Someone from Chase just told me they are hoping to be back by late this afternoon (EST).

I’m refinancing my mortgage today at 3 pm, paying off Chase, at which time I’ll cease being a Chase customer (though I have a hunch my new lender will sell my new mortgage back to Chase). This web outage is creating some complications, though I hope I can work around it.

  • By Greg, September 14, 2010 @ 6:27 am

Still down at 9:26. Message has changed form BS system maintenance to “Our website is temporarily unavailable. We’re working quickly to restore access”. How does a major bank like Chase stay offline this long?

  • By Original Poster, September 14, 2010 @ 6:31 am

For what it’s worth, I e-mailed Joseph Evangelisti, Global Media Relations Director at JPMorgan Chase Corporate this morning. I also cc’d the Editors at The Wall Street Journal.

Not sure if this will elicit a response, but I’ll let you know if I hear anything.

Seems to me Chase has a MAJOR problem on their hands.

    Here’s the e-mail:

    9-14-2010 8:00 am

    Good morning Mr. Evangelisti,

In case you didn’t know, Chase’s online banking websites at http://www.chase.com and https://chaseonline.chase.com have been denying customer logins for in excess of 12 hours (since yesterday late afternoon/early evening).

This has undeniably interrupted banking access to millions of online customers who use Chase’s online features to check account balances, pay bills, and transfer money.

Though the websites say the issue is due to “System Maintenance”, it is apparent that such maintenance issues should not affect customers during normal business (banking) hours.

This is the second time in as many months that Chase’s online banking features have been inaccessible to its customers for over 12 hours with the last issue being just over a month ago.

Will Mr. Dimon be addressing these issues during his presentation today at the Barclays Global Financial Services Conference at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in New York City?

It seems this issue would be one that has a MAJOR impact on Chase’s banking operations and especially one that Chase would surely want to immediately address to its Customers and Shareholders through a Press Release or other statement.

  • By Wild Bill Hiccup, September 14, 2010 @ 7:34 am

There are no Chase branch offices in my state of residence (TN), making this “outage” very inconvenient and troubling.

  • By Sari, September 14, 2010 @ 9:26 am

The outage is still current……causing me to be very frustrated.

  • By Ramon, September 14, 2010 @ 10:04 am

Site is still down – “Log on later” I wonder how *much* later.

  • By Doug, September 14, 2010 @ 10:08 am

This sucks. I’ve had so many issues with Chase. I’m moving on to some other bank.

  • By Chris, September 14, 2010 @ 10:10 am

A server just went down and all online info is being transferred to the new one, hopefully up by 7 pm local time 9/14 all funds are safe and no they weren’t hacked

  • By Charlie, September 14, 2010 @ 10:27 am

    @Chris

So basically you are telling us that the states’ second largest bank has no Failover/Disaster Recovery Plan?

I think the credit union I have been trying out just got my business.

Funds are safe, you just can’t do anything to them without visiting a branch or waiting two hours on hold. Maybe a little too safe.

  • By Tiffany, September 14, 2010 @ 10:30 am

    Still……not…..working…………..i miss my WAMU!

  • By sglick, September 14, 2010 @ 10:53 am

What a bunch of BS. Chase, by their own admission via their website, last year made over $20M between the business and commercial banking divisions. Yet that, plus the billions in TARP money (not to mention the billions made from international investments) doesn’t result in them having a better website than People Magazine?! This is outrageous and Chase should be ashamed of themselves (if they even still have a soul) for begging the American Taxpayer for untold billions in aid…only to give us nothing in return for it!

  • By JCQ, September 14, 2010 @ 12:01 pm

It is almost the end of today’s business day (3:00 pm on Tuesday, September 14 2010). I was told by a Chase representative on the phone that the problem would be solved within 30 minutes. That was at 1:00 pm earlier. They least they should do is be honest and offer some alternatives. I am done with Chase…

  • By DML, September 14, 2010 @ 12:13 pm

This sure does build confidence for my choice of Banking….for all I know some hacker has drained my account…Get it together ya idjuts!!

  • By k, September 14, 2010 @ 12:38 pm

Now it’s back to saying the site is down due to a scheduled maintenance.

They should really be honest about what is going on.

First off, they should give advanced notice to their customers if they plan on scheduling maintenance, particularly maintenance that lasts upward of a day and effects ALL customers.

Second, it is never appropriate to take such a critical site offline for an excess of a day without advanced warning even if it was covertly scheduled maintenance.

Third, if all that didn’t make them look terrible enough, they are now lying about how long the site has been down and why. That the reasons and time frame keep changing only makes them look incompetent, ridiculous, and slimy.

I literally got my first Chase card in the mail yesterday morning and now am reconsidering if I want to remain a customer.

  • By Heather, September 14, 2010 @ 12:51 pm

I’m seeing on other discussion threads that some people’s cards have been declined. I carry no cash most of the time, has anyone else had that happen?

  • By ChasingMyMoney, September 14, 2010 @ 1:00 pm

I received an email notifying more that I was charged for an overdraft. That was about 10 hours ago. I was on the Chase websites an hour or so before and could have transferred money to cover the overdraft, but “down for maintainance.” Now, I can’t check to see if I need to transfer funds, compare my receipts to figure out why I went over in the first place, I can’t do anything.

Oh, did I mention I’m serving in the military? Yeah, just getting finished with a year and a half tour and need some funds for travel.

    Thanks Chase.

When I get home, I’m telling my wife I love her, petting my dog, and getting an account with another bank.

  • By MAIVIS, September 14, 2010 @ 1:07 pm

WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THE IT DIRECTOR AT CHASE? OH I KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT, HE IS PROBABLY IN INDIA WITH THE REST OF YOUR OUTSOURCED CUSTOMER SUPPORT STAFF WHO COULD CARE LESS IF THE US CUSTOMER CAN OR CAN’T LOG IN. EVIDENTLY HE/SHE HAS NEVER HEAR OF THE TERM “DISASTER RECOVERY”. BTW: YOU CAN FIND IT IN YOUR MIS/IT 101 CLASS MANUAL. HOW CAN YOU NOT HAVE A BACKUP (FAIL OVER) SERVER SO THAT SERVICE IS NOT INTERRUPTED IF YOUR MAIN SERVER FAILS.? DUH? I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TRANSFER FUND ALL DAY BECAUSE YOUR SITE HAS BEEN UNAVAILABLE SINCE BEFORE 9AM THIS MORNING. ARE YOU PEOPLE OUT OF YOU MIND? WHAT KIND OF BUSINESS DO YOU THINK YOU ARE RUNNING HERE?

This just in: the IT department for most companies will be taking advantage of this situation and have added the following hiring interview question as a very effective way of filtering out bad candidates: Were you part of Chase’s IT department during “The Outage”?

  • By sglick, September 14, 2010 @ 3:08 pm

Chase is officially run and managed by the world’s biggest team of idiots. I spoke to someone in the ‘Online Banking’ department this morning (approx. 10AM PST). They told me the site would back up no later than 6PM EST.

Clearly they were either lying, mis-informed, or some evil combination of both.

  • By Fireball, September 14, 2010 @ 4:30 pm

Just spoke to Chase on phone 1920 ET and was told they have no idea how long it will be down. I told them that this morning at 1000 they said the system would be back up by 1300 (pm). The gentlemen stated that person was not authorized to give any time and he could not either. I joked with him that 24hrs was a little long and he stated ” I definitely agree”. Is this 2010 or 1910? When do we make a run on the bank? That would really shake things up.

  • By CiCi, September 14, 2010 @ 4:38 pm

I tried logging on to Chase yesterday (Monday) at about 8:30pm CST. No joy. Had to go grocery shopping and wanted to transfer money, but wasn’t able to as the website was down. Figured I’d put off shopping until today… but, alas, the website was still not up.

Went shopping anyway this afternoon (couldn’t wait any longer). Used my Chase debit card (holding my breath!), and it went through just fine.

I’d emailed customer service via thier online email system through my account about an issue on Sunday evening. Their email system is apparently working okay, as I did receive a response to my email – I just can’t log in to view it though.

I agree with the rest of the folks, this is LAME and totally unacceptable from an institution this large. Can you imagine what it would be like if this happened to the federal or state government? I just can’t believe it has gone on this long. A few hours is understandable – hey, spit happens – but for over 24 hours and nobody can access their account? I hope they plan on making this right by their customers somehow… but, I really doubt they’re going to do anything. Just like everything else, we have to suck it up. So they thing – wait ’til they come back online… I won’t be able to close my account fast enough! See ya, Chase! Not only do you SUCK, but you’re incompetent, too.

  • By Shelley, September 14, 2010 @ 5:31 pm

change banks, it’s that simple. Chase doesn’t care about you, just your money. Still out at 5:28 p.m. Pacific time

  • By John, September 14, 2010 @ 8:46 pm

It is now minutes away from Sept 15th (11:38) in NYC, and CHASE.com and CHASE mobile are still down!
This may have cost me my marriage. No joke. I have been unemployed for a long time, and my wife has been supporting us. She has been getting upset that all the money she makes is vanishing. She works so hard. I told her I’d show her exactly where the money is going, and the site was not working. Now tonight she thinks I’m lying about something since I was still unable to show her the accounts. She said she wants a divorce! OK, obviously we have problems already, but this sure as hell did not help the situation any. Thanks a lot CHASE!

I have had it with Chase bank. I am going to open a new account at a different bank, and reroute all my automatic payments etc. I think everyone should leave Chase, and try not to do business with them in the future. That is the only way they will ever begin to notice how bad they have become.

  • By Cassie, September 14, 2010 @ 9:24 pm

10:32 am CST – STILL DOWN!

Still down, but looks like they’re trying. Page *kinda* comes up (if it doesn’t time out first), but when you try to log in it spazzes back out and gives a bad page.

Going on the third business day now – this is absolutely unacceptable. I can’t get through on the Customer Service number either as the waiting periods are too long, and I can’t just trot down to the branch because I am Missouri right now – closest Chase bank is over 500 miles away.

And apparently if people eventually DO get through on the 800 number, they are treated like scum. Hey, it’s not OUR fault your IT folks aren’t savvy enough to resolve the issue! How dare you take your problems out on US, Chase! And you BETTER make good any overdrafts that happen while you’re down, because obviously the customer is not able to transfer funds themselves under the circumstances. You’re going to have to use some of that bailout money to cover your losses on this one!

  • By bernorio, September 15, 2010 @ 8:51 am

I have seen a lot of temporary online bank failures over the years, but never anything like this. Enough is enough. Utter incompetence and stupidity. And arrogance on top of it. Let’s leave the sinking ship!

  • By CSI in Monterey, September 15, 2010 @ 11:32 am

11:28 pst and still cannot get on to the Chase banking site. Why, why would you put in new software without testing it first?! Someone is going to have to get fired over this, to bad it will be a programmer and not the idiot who was responsible for ensuring the product was tested prior to giving the okay to impliment.

  • By JimmyK, September 15, 2010 @ 11:39 am

I count on online banking to make my payments on time and have a record of having done so. During this outage so far a payment to The IRS simply dissapeared. I re-did everything this morning and now it is down again. If my payment again “goes away” so will I. It is the 15th and a lot of folks are going to get hit hard by this.

  • By admin, September 15, 2010 @ 11:46 am

Can’t help but wonder if Chase will now make both payments. The first one might have disappeared but not for good.

  • By Barbara Morey, September 15, 2010 @ 12:24 pm

I’ve been trying for two days to use the Chase website. Fortunately, I was able to transfer some funds from my savings account to my checking account this morning, but now I am getting messages on my cell phone saying that all of my accounts are below $50!!!! This is absolutely insane. I’m moving to some other bank as soon as they get this mess straightened out–if they do! Let’s just hope it’s not the result of someone hacking in and compromising our accounts.

  • By Online Banker, September 15, 2010 @ 12:51 pm

I keep trying and after putting in my username and pw it directs me to a blank page with a chase header then redirects me to an error screen that tells me to check that the date and time are correct on my computer? WTH? Why does it matter what time it is on my computer?

  • By CiCi, September 15, 2010 @ 9:30 pm

FINALLY! Got back online today about 4:20pm CST. Don’t know how long it had actually been “up”, but seems to be working okay… for now. ;-)

  • By Gigi, September 16, 2010 @ 3:57 pm

I finally was able to get in yesterday afternoon as I needed to pay my 2 cards – they were due on the 15th. It was after the 5 p.m. EST cut off time (I’m on PST). I called and got customer service, as I wanted to know if I could pay at a branch. My only option: pay $14.95 to have them take the payment and process effective the due date. $14.95 per credit card. I wanted to know how they could charge this fee when they have been down. Her response: you had the option to call our number and pay via our automated system before 5 p.m. EST. Great. I always pay online from where I’m at. I didn’t have any of my info (phone #, credit card #, bank account #). Seriously sucks.

10/5/2010 – 9:30 AM Arizona time. System down again. Says sorry, system is not available, check back later. Hey, Chase, what is going on? I never have this trouble with Wells Fargo or Bank of America. Their systems are always available except for legitimate scheduled maintenance. Shame on you. Hire new programmemrs.

DOWN AGAIN?? Oct 5, 2010 and again I can’t log in, now it says “the site is temporarily unavailable”. Sounds familiar? It sure makes this site popular!

Just got declined at Dunkin Donuts for $5.00 debit card transaction. How Embarassing.

I planned on going shopping today, but it looks like i can’t since the system is down.

I will close my Chase checking account.

  • By headache, April 1, 2011 @ 7:16 am

April 1, 2011 and chase online is unavailable and down again. It’s April Fool’s day so maybe it’s just a joke.

  • By bob, July 13, 2011 @ 5:44 pm

I am so frustrated. They keep deleting all of the accounts I’ve created for bill-pay (3rd time this has happened), can’t help on the phone. I tried sending them a msg online and going their stupid forms, the response I got was “error 500″. What nits!

  • By Catherine, September 11, 2011 @ 9:13 pm

With almost a million readers a year on my websites, I’ve had nothing but problems with Chase and their attempt to create a non-profit account for me.

    Four accounts later …

Is this really how you run a bank?

I can only speak for their awful banking practices, especially when it comes to the digital world. AND IT IS AWFUL.

It’s as if they are etching numbers on a rock.

Or they exist in the 1900′s …. and god-forbid any of their systems actually talk to each other.

If they suspect foul-play on your account they will take every measure to shut you down, assuming it is because of you — never questioning that it might be a security breach on their end and the fault is theirs.

But no. You must pay the price.

By my 3rd debit card, I was done.

    They are just awful.

Talking on the phone to customer service in Bangladesh does nothing.

Oh wait, but the security breach is my fault.

And you Chase would like to sell me some desert property in Florida …

Ok. Three business accounts with Chase and need to do online banking and guess what? What an inconvenience. Do you think there are too many clients to handle now, is that the issue? They have aggressively recruited new clients in Las Vegas Metro Area and branches are popping everyday at many city and suburbs corners. I am definitely thinking on moving my accounts to wells fargo if this continues- specially with all the new fees these banks are popping up with month.

  • By kumar, September 30, 2011 @ 10:52 am

This is down as of now…trying to do some important money transfer….

  • By Mike, October 1, 2011 @ 10:30 pm

Well. The system is down again. I cannot pay my bill. Nor will my health insurance company process a payment, but Chase cannot tell me what the problem is because they cannot access my account. I actually asked them to have a Manager make an electronic payment to my health insurance. “Sorry no one, including any managers have access to Jack S*”. How can a company this big just say “Sorry. We cannot do a frigin thing about anyone’s accounts because our system is undergoing maintenance. I told cutomer service…”Why don’t they just shut the lights off, close the doors and send all of you home?”…..nothing personal…just does not make sense.

Additionally, B of A’s website was down last nigt and UPS’s is down tonight as well.

Technology sucks if managed by idiots.

  • By Apolinar, October 19, 2011 @ 1:30 am

I can log into the site, but it will not show me my account activity nor my present/available balance. Luckily I keep record in my ledgers but that’s ridiculous

  • By Jon, November 7, 2011 @ 8:38 am

It’s November 7th and Chase is down again. They said that they were working on their site over the weekend and that it was supported to be up Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 11:00 P.M. Well, it’s Monday and it’s not up. Can’t even get to their webpage.

  • By Jeff, November 14, 2011 @ 7:33 pm

We’re experiencing the same problem, all payment transfers on Chase.com are unavailable.

Here’s the message “We are upgrading this transfer feature and the service is currently unavailable. We sincerely apologize that our scheduled upgrade to this service is taking longer than planned…”

We got the error message last night, thought it was a fluke. Went in again today to do the transfer and same error message. Ridiculous!!!

  • By josh, December 30, 2011 @ 3:08 pm

I can’t stand chase. Liked WAMU until it became chase. We were promised $100 to open an account there so we opened the account and nobody could tell us why we weren’t getting it so I finally gave up. Also they kept screwing up our accounts so I went to cancel and couldn’t even do that without getting nailed with a bunch of overdraft fees. It felt so good the day I bankrupted on them. Moded.

  • By Dave, January 2, 2012 @ 6:35 pm

I have been trying for over a half hour to log on to Chase’s website and cannot. My user ID and Password won’t work so I asked for another. I have gone through their stupid security checks over and over. I still cannot log on.

  • By Joanne, March 18, 2012 @ 4:01 am

So Chase’s website is down. I think they sent an email stating maintenence, but I can’t remember. I am pissed at them. I put 165 in my bank account and the atm is saying that I am over drawn by 4 dollars. I don’t know how that happened.

  • By Nick, March 26, 2012 @ 7:43 am

    It’s down again…. at 10am on a monday morning !!

  • By Leo, July 22, 2012 @ 2:14 am

I been doing my weekly shopping last Saturday and my transactions like Credit Card and debit card declined, was a shame, I went to the ATM to take cash and declined, I went home for check my balance online and “System unavailable”.
Today a week later I tried to rent a movie “declined” I tried to buy something online “declined” now is 4AM and Chase site “We’re currently updating our website” and of course unavailable.
What maintenance? if the website is always the same.
If this shit still happening I will switch to another bank.

  • By EIEIO, August 6, 2012 @ 1:55 pm

It’s down *AGAIN* right now… I’m definitely switching banks.

  • By vexedone, September 19, 2012 @ 9:41 am

They’re down today at 940am PDT and have been down for the past hour!

  • By admin, September 19, 2012 @ 9:47 am

Yes, THE ENTIRE SITE IS DOWN THIS TIME not just the banking site behind the login wall.

  • By Rich Bowman, September 19, 2012 @ 11:19 am

Chase is loosing money and customer with these BS outages… time to fire some IT idiots…

  • By julia, September 19, 2012 @ 11:35 am

Chase site is down now?! Sept 19, 2012 at 11:35 am PST

  • By Josie, September 22, 2012 @ 4:52 am

chase online is not reliably available anymore….. what the heck is going on there?

  • By stu, September 23, 2012 @ 4:48 am

Just wanted to know if it was me or not. They still haven’t recovered from last weeks implementation?

    Need to pay bills….

  • By Jessica, September 24, 2012 @ 5:00 am

Chase is still down…. I am not happy about this at all. Who has time to go the bank. I havebills to pay.

  • By ricardo, September 26, 2012 @ 12:30 pm

The problem with chase.com remains. This is ridiculous, I’m now planing to move to a different bank, I really don’t care about the reason or an explanation, this is simply unacceptable. They have enough money to improve their security/network infrastructure.

  • By zenaugie, February 15, 2013 @ 9:02 am

I tried to log on early about 6:00 AM PST about . I got half a page. After a long wait I was able to login. But unable to logoff. Tried several more times and got message SURVEY IS TOO BUSY. No other notifications were available on Chase Online. Time is now 9:02 PST.

  • By Paul, March 1, 2013 @ 9:23 am

Once again, 03/01/13 since 10:50am Chase crashed and has not been able to recover in over 30 minutes… so far. This is getting ridiculous. How can one of the largest banks operate like this? I certainly can’t when I cannot access my accounts.

  • By Patti, March 12, 2013 @ 12:53 pm

3/12/2013 – Chase site down again. Been over 2 hours so far. Still can’t get into my account.

  • By Theresa, March 12, 2013 @ 3:53 pm

3/12/2013 5:51 PM Down and been trying since 3:45…
Wow, this is horrible. I can’t pay my bills, and I am so close to going to the bank and closing my account and getting a more reliable bank that I can truely trust.
