Chase down again

Readers are reporting another outage this morning that has lasted several hours.  The login screen as of now appears active and I can’t test it as I am not a Chase customer.  One reader reported being redirected to this page.

    I’m not surprised.

Chase has slow, unreliable, error-prone computer systems that require a lot of nighttime maintenance. Even worse, Chase runs on Eastern time, so you’re pretty much screwed if you live on the west coast. What may seem reasonable in New York, may be very annoying elsewhere.

The online banking people are trying to put a pretty face on the website, but’s really putting lipstick on a pig. The core systems are just as terrible as before.
    Example:
We have customers who complain that the tellers are slow but in reality it’s the stupid computer and its 20% error rate on image scans. The tellers are busy fixing the mistakes so the transaction can be processed.

Chase’s system problems, unreliability, terrible operating hours are all good reasons to stay away.

It’s so bad that many employees prefer to bank at credit unions and other banks, than with their employer. Given what I’ve seen happen to customer’s accounts, I keep my personal money as far away as possible from Chase.
